Band Director - Mr. Dan Barnhill
Mr. Barnhill has been Director of Bands at Boone County High School since 2014. In 7th grade, Mr. Barnhill was sitting in the audience watching his brother perform with the Wind Ensemble and that moment was when he decided he wanted to be the Band Director at Boone County High School. He kept his eyes set on his goal ever since that concert. It goes without saying that he is thrilled to have achieved his goal!
Mr. Barnhill taught at R.A. Jones Middle School for 4 years, and was an Assistant Director for the BCHS Band Program for each of those years. Mr. Barnhill worked with the marching band and ran the basketball pep band during his 4 years as assistant director.
Under his direction, the R.A. Jones 7th Grade Band received a distinguished rating at the KMEA Performance Assessment in 2013. In 2014, The R.A. Jones 8th Grade Band received a distinguished rating, with exemplary distinction at the KMEA Performance Assessment. The 8th Grade Band also received 1st place in their division of the Music in the Parks Festival at Kings Island.
Mr. Barnhill is a graduate of Boone County High School where he received the John Phillip Sousa Award his senior year, 2005. After graduating, Mr. Barnhill worked on the marching band staff at BCHS, and was an actively involved alumni.
Mr. Barnhill studied trumpet at Eastern Kentucky University, and was fortunate to travel to Greece, during his time at EKU, to study and perform during the summer. While at EKU, Mr. Barnhill served as President of the Marching Band for one year, and President of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia professional music fraternity, among other positions. Mr. Barnhill also received the Outstanding Junior (third year) Orchestra Member, and 1st place in the Josephine Walker American Music competition.
Mr. Barnhill received the Tri-M Music Honor Society Honorary Lifetime Membership in 2012.
Mr. Barnhill is married to Lauren Barnhill, Choral Directer at BCHS. They had their first child, Jackson Lawrence Barnhill on August 12, 2014; their second child, Vera Carson Barnhill on June 17, 2015; and their third child, Eleanor Lynne Barnhill on January 14, 2017! Mr. and Mrs. Barnhill and their children reside in Florence, Ky.

Assistant Director/Percussion Guru - Mr. Tom Mueller
Mr. Mueller is in his 30th year of working with the Boone County High School Band Program.
Mr. Mueller is in his 21st year of teaching, the last 11 being in the Boone County School District. He is in his fifth year as the Director of Bands at Camp Ernst Middle School in Burlington, KY. He has been the Director of Percussion at Boone County High School since 1990 and has been an Assistant Band Director at Boone County High School since 2001. Mr. Mueller’s bands consistently achieve distinguished ratings at Kentucky Music Educators Association District Concert Band Festivals. Mr. Mueller has served as an adjudicator and clinician of marching bands and concert bands since 1987 in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. Mr. Mueller is a member of Phi Mu Alpha professional music fraternity, Music Educators National Conference and Phi Beta Mu and was selected as the 2011 Florence Rotary Teacher of the Year!

Assistant Director/Visual Guru - Mr. Adam Proctor
Mr. Proctor received his Bachelor’s in Music Education and his Masters in Education from Northern Kentucky University. While at NKU he was the principal percussionist for the top Wind Ensemble as well as a member of the NKU Steel Band, Marimba Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble. Mr. Proctor was the Associate Director of Bands for Beechwood Independent Schools from 2009-2017. Under Mr. Proctor's direction the Beechwood Concert Bands earned "Distinguished Ratings" at KMEA Concert Assessment each year of his tenure. The Marching Band was named Class A State Champions 6 times and Class A BOA Grand National Champions in 2011 with Mr. Proctor serving as the Visual Caption Head. From 2017-2019 Mr. Proctor was the Assistant Director at Larry A. Ryle High School. Under Mr. Proctor's leadership his Ensembles received "Distinguished Ratings" at KMEA Concert Assessment each year of his tenure and the Marching band was a Class AAAAA State Finalist for the first time in the schools history. Mr. Proctor is very active in music education in and around the area and has a great passion for developing students through music. Mr. Proctor grew up in Northern Kentucky, is a graduate of Scott High School in Taylor Mill and currently resides in Union, Kentucky where he lives with his beautiful bride Stephanie and two daughters, Eden and Emerson.
